A 22-year-old man was hospitalized Sunday afternoon after sustaining a gunshot wound to the back in the 800 block of Alan Page Drive SE.
According to Canton Police, officers responded to the incident, which was reported at 1:28 p.m. The victim, identified as a resident of Alan Page Drive SE, was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Law enforcement officials, in their investigation, located the suspected shooting at a different building within the same apartment complex. The suspect, identified as a 17-year-old with a Canton address, was observed exiting a building in the 900 block of Kingston Drive SE, where he allegedly left a firearm on the ground in front of the door.
The suspect has been charged with felonious assault in connection with the incident.
The identities of both the victim and the suspect have not been disclosed beyond their age and general area of residence.
