The morning started ideal for the Carrollton Warriors wrestling team.
The Warriors entered the OHSAA Division II State Wrestling tournament with four state qualifiers – and all four of them have advanced to the semifinals after winning their opening matches Saturday morning.
All seniors, this core of CHS wrestlers entered the tournament to leave their mark and add to their legacies.
Landon Jenkins (106 lbs.) defeated D.J. Otero of Lutheran West 4-1 in the quarterfinal. Jenkins will wrestle Bexley’s Marius Garcis in the state semifinals. Garcia has not lost a match this season.
Kail Snair (113 lbs.) won his quarterfinal match by pin over Carter Trukovich in 5:37. He will wrestle Claymont freshman Daniel McGarr in the semifinals.
Levi Pidgeon (126 lbs.) narrowly won his quarterfinal match, beating Wyatt Nemitz of Perkins 4-3. He will wrestle Indian Valley’s Leroy Steagall in the semifinals.
Josh Carman (138 lbs.) opened Saturday morning with a 15-2 decision over Jefferson Area’s Jonathan Bissell to advance to the semifinals. Carman will wrestle sophomore James Lindsay of Watterson in the state semifinals.
Semifinals are slated to take place Saturday evening.
