At approximately 9:03 pm on February 19th, the Sandy Creek Fire District-Minerva Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 401 Prospect St. in Minerva.

Upon arrival at 9:08 pm, firefighters discovered a 1-story brick ranch home with a walkout basement emitting heavy smoke. Firefighters deployed an attack hoseline into the building, focusing on the bedroom on the first floor where the fire originated. The fire was swiftly contained to the bedroom and an adjacent hallway, although the remainder of the residence sustained smoke, water, and heat damage.

The property, registered under ARRIS Enterprises of Rootstown, housed a family of six who managed to evacuate unharmed.

The family noted experiencing electrical issues just prior to the fire’s detection, prompting an ongoing investigation into the incident. Temporary accommodation was arranged for the family, with additional support from the Red Cross.

The Sandy Creek Fire District-Minerva Fire Department received assistance from the Augusta Twp Fire Department and the Great Trail Fire District during the operation.
