The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Canton Post is currently investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that took place on February 2, at around 11:53 p.m. The incident unfolded on State Route 212 near Bardell Avenue SW in Bethlehem Township, Stark County.

The driver, Eric S. Mallett, 64, of Strasburg, was traveling westbound on State Route 212 in a 2001 Chevrolet Impala when he veered left of the center while navigating a curve. Mallett then overcorrected, went off the right side of the road, and collided with a tree.

Upon arrival, the Stark County Coroner’s Office declared Mallett deceased at the scene.

Emergency response units from Erie Valley Fire and EMS, Patriot’s Towing, and the Stark County Coroner’s Office were present to provide assistance.

It was noted that Mallett was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. The authorities have confirmed that the crash remains under investigation.
