ArtsinStark, the leading Arts Council in Stark County, has announced the appointment of Maureen Ater as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). In her role as CEO, Ater will spearhead the organization’s grant allocation, oversee operations at the Cultural Center, and lead the execution of the Annual Campaign for the Arts.
“We are thrilled to welcome Maureen as our new CEO. Her lifelong passion for the arts, coupled with her leadership experience, aligns perfectly with the goals and values of ArtsinStark,” remarked Christopher Goff, board chair. “We believe that under Maureen’s guidance, ArtsinStark will continue to thrive and make significant contributions to our vibrant arts community.”
Maureen ‘Mo’ Ater brings a wealth of experience in strategic leadership and community engagement to ArtsinStark. Her most recent role was Vice President of Marketing and Development for Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio. Previously, she served as the General Manager of The Canton Repository/GateHouse Ohio Media and as Vice President of Marketing for United Way of Greater Stark County. Ater, a lifelong Stark County resident, is an active volunteer on various community boards and initiatives.
“I am honored to join ArtsinStark as CEO and am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of the arts in our community,” expressed Ater. “I look forward to working with the talented team at ArtsinStark, as well as our partners and stakeholders, to further our mission and impact.”
Ater will initially take on the role of Chief Operating Officer, with plans to assume the position of CEO on June 1, 2024. Currently, Emil Alecusan, a longstanding ArtsinStark board member, is serving as interim CEO. Ater is eager to build upon the foundation laid by Alecusan during his tenure.
