Law enforcement officials have made a significant breakthrough in the investigation into a shooting incident on Interstate 77 that occurred on August 3. The Summit County Sheriff’s Office, along with collaborative efforts from the DEA and the Akron Police Department, announced the arrest of Sirvonte Suggs, an 18-year-old resident of Akron.

The shooting incident unfolded when, as previously reported, the passenger of a pickup truck discharged several rounds from a handgun into a black Lincoln SUV, resulting in a fatal outcome. The driver of the Lincoln, struck multiple times, tragically lost his life after the vehicle crossed the median into the northbound lanes of I-77 and collided with another vehicle.

Following a meticulous investigation by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff’s detectives identified Suggs as a suspect in the shooting. According to their findings, the incident is believed to be the culmination of an ongoing dispute between Suggs and the victim.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence on Florida Avenue in the City of Akron on Dec. 11. The Sheriff’s SWAT Team apprehended Suggs during the operation. Detectives searching also discovered suspected drugs, electronics, and ammunition at the residence.

Sirvonte Suggs now faces charges of Aggravated Murder (F-1), with additional charges expected to be filed in the ongoing investigation. He was transported to the Summit County Jail following his arrest.
