A Massillon Junior High student was arrested at the end of the school day Monday afternoon.
Officials said they were made aware that the student, who’s identity is unknown, was allegedly in possession of a gun.
According to Massillon Superintendent Paul Salvino, no direct threats were made towards students or staff. He said the student was immediately taken into police custody.
“The district will continue to cooperate with the Massillon Police Department as well as apply appropriate student discipline,” Salvino noted. “We are grateful to have a school resource officer located at the Massillon Middle School Complex who was able to ensure immediate response to the situation.”
