Detectives are currently investigating a shooting incident that resulted in the death of one man and left a second victim injured in Akron.

The incident occurred Sunday night around 10:43 p.m. when officers responded to reports of shots fired at a residence located in the 500 block of Noble Avenue.

Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered an 18-year-old male lying in the street, having sustained gunshot wounds. Emergency services were immediately contacted, and both victims were transported to the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center for treatment.

The male victim succumbed to his injuries at the medical center, while a 22-year-old woman was found to have suffered a gunshot wound to her leg. Her injury is considered non-life threatening, and she is expected to recover.

As the investigation unfolds, the identities of the victims are being withheld pending notification of their families and further inquiries.

Preliminary information suggests that at least one unknown male suspect, potentially inside an SUV, fired multiple shots, striking the victims shortly after their arrival at the residence for a gathering.

Officers at the scene recovered numerous shell casings, which will be analyzed as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in their efforts. The Akron Police Department Detective Bureau can be contacted at 330-375-2490 or 330-375-2Tip.
