An 8-month old from Salem has died following a 3-vehicle accident in the Goshen Township Friday afternoon.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on Friday afternoon at the intersection of Route 534 and Middletown Road.
Reports reveal that a Chevy Impala driven by 43-year-old Rebecca Yoder from Beloit failed to yield to a truck at the intersection. Yoder’s vehicle then hit the back of the truck, causing it to veer left of center and collide with a crossover SUV being driven by Bradley Smith of Salem.
As a result of the head-on collision, Bradley Smith was seriously injured, while the eight-month-old infant in a child safety seat in the back of the car suffered life-threatening injuries. The infant, identified as Finn Smith, was rushed to Akron Children’s Hospital but unfortunately passed away on Saturday.
Yoder and the truck driver, 68-year-old John Burford, both sustained minor injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident.
