Young Stark County woman killed in car crash

A car accident in Clinton County claimed the life of a young woman from Stark County.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Wilmington Post, Kara Metz, 22, was driving a 2014 Toyota Scion TC northbound on U.S. 68 with her infant daughter and passenger, Heidi Wright, 20, when she tried to pass several vehicles at once.

Metz collided head-on with an oncoming Ford Focus driven by Thomas Cogan, 82, from Beavercreek, around 7:00 p.m. on May 19th in Washington Township.

Metz and her daughter were seriously injured and airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital, while Wright was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cogan was initially transported to Clinton Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries.
