In a late-night incident on Friday, law enforcement officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of 7th Avenue in Akron following reports of a shooting. The incident left a 15-year-old girl injured with a gunshot wound to the face.

Authorities arrived at the scene shortly before 11:00 p.m., prompted by a distressed caller who indicated that someone had been shot inside the house. Upon their arrival, officers discovered the victim and immediately assessed her condition.

The 15-year-old girl, whose identity remains undisclosed, displayed an apparent gunshot wound to her face.

EMS swiftly arrived at the scene and transported the wounded teenager to Akron Children’s Hospital. She is reportedly in serious but stable condition, with her injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

Eyewitnesses present at the scene provided statements indicating that Levell Gary, an 18-year-old resident of the home, accidentally shot the victim while both individuals were in the living room.

Following the incident, Gary left the premises but subsequently returned shortly thereafter. Law enforcement officials took Gary into custody without any resistance and transported him to the local police station for further questioning regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Upon thorough investigation and consideration of the available evidence, authorities charged Gary with Felonious Assault. He was booked into the Summit County Jail, where he will await further legal proceedings.

Authorities are actively investigating the incident to gather additional information and determine the exact sequence of events leading to the accidental shooting. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
