The Akron Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a 24-year-old man who was shot to death Wednesday evening.
According to police, they were dispatched to the 700 block of Fleming Drive around 5:45 p.m. after gunfire was heard in the area.
When they arrived to the scene, they located the 24-year-old victim in the canal behind the apartment complex in the area. Officers pulled him from the water and he was transported to the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
According to police, officers collected over a dozen shell casings at the scene. Detectives believe there may be more than one suspected shooter.
Two vehicles were also struck by gunfire.
No suspects have been identified and no motive is available at this time.
