A Sandy Valley Local school bus was involved in an accident Tuesday afternoon.

According to the school district, the school bus was finishing its regular drop-off route when a car went left of center and hit the bus on State Route 43 just outside of Waynesburg.

“Our bus driver controlled the bus and brought it to a safe stop,” Sandy Valley’s Director of Public Relations Allison Morris said.

In addition to the bus driver, there was one child and an aide aboard the school bus.

No one on the bus, nor the driver of the vehicle, sustained serious injuries, according to Morris.

She said district employees were on scene after the crash.

“As a district, we would like to thank our Transportation Director, John Petro, mechanic, Corey Hormell, School Resource Office, Deputy Balash, and our superintendent, David Fischer,” Morris said. “We appreciate the caring and support of the entire Sandy Valley community.”

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, who is handling the investigation, was unavailable for comment following the crash. At this time, it’s unclear what citations the driver of the vehicle will face.
