Woman shot, killed at Akron bar, suspect arrested and charged with murder

A 28-year-old is behind bars after shooting and killing a woman in Akron, according to police.

Police were dispatched to the Heights Bar and Grill in the 1300 block of Newton Street just after 1 a.m. for reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they located a 44-year-old woman inside who had been shot.

The victim was transported to Summa Health Akron City Hospital where she died. The victim’s name has not been released.

Officers were able to identify Aaron Ridenour, 28, as the alleged suspect. He was later located hiding in the back of a pickup truck on Rhodes Ave.

Ridenour was arrested and charged with Murder, Felonious Assault and later transported and booked into the Summit County Jail.
