AEP Ohio is preparing for the chance of another string of power outages in the area as threat of severe weather and strong winds loom once again.

“Our crews are preparing their trucks and equipment in the event of power outages — and we’re encouraging customers to prepare and stay alert,” an email from AEP Ohio read.

Northern Ohio has been hit with back-to-back storms in the last two weeks, and another storm is set to move in Wednesday evening. The previous storms knocked out power for thousands of residents in the region – some were without power for three days.

In an email sent out by AEP Ohio, the company is encouraging residents to prepare for an outage.

“With severe weather on the horizon, now is the time to make plans and prepare for what you’ll do if there’s a power outage,” AEP Ohio said.

The electric company is encouraging residents to stay tuned into local forecasts to keep track of incoming storms, secure loose objects outside of your home, stay away from downed wires and develop an emergency preparedness plan and emergency kit.

“We strongly encourage customers with life-supporting medical equipment to have a backup power source and an alternate plan in the event of a power outage,” AEP Ohio noted.
