Man accused of setting fire to North Canton apartment arrested by police

A 20-year-old Canton man is being held in the Stark County Jail after being arrested for Aggravated Arson, according to the North Canton Fire Department.

Firefighters were dispatched to 201 Rose Lane St SW, Apt. 1 in North Canton on Wednesday, Feb. 8 for reports of a structure fire. When officials arrived to the scene and extinguished the fire, the origin and cause of the fire was determined to be “suspicious.”

Investigators with the North Canton Police Department, the State of Ohio Fire Marshals office and other area agencies began looking into the possible arson.

On Monday, Feb. 13, charges were filed against Cole Riter, 20, of 4870 South Blvd Apt. 3 in Canton for Aggravated Arson.

The Jackson Township Police Department assisted with the arrest of Riter who was booked into the Stark County Jail.
