Stark County man dies in ATV crash; alcohol suspected factor

A 24-year-old man from Canton died Tuesday night in Tuscarawas County after crashing an ATV around 9:45 p.m.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the man was heading north on County Road 109 (Somerdale Rd). He attempted to turn right onto Township Road 47 (Sattler Bottom Rd), when the ATV overturned on the roadway.

The operator of the ATV was pronounced dead at the scene.

No helmet was used and alcohol is believed to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation.

Assisting on scene with the Ohio State Highway Patrol was the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, Mineral-Sandy Fire Department, Fairfield Township Fire Department, Affordable Towing, and the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office.
