A child under one-year-old died early Thursday morning in the village of Malvern.
According to Great Trail Fire Chief Ralph Castelucci, his department was dispatched to the area of 2256 Alliance Rd, Malvern for reports of a shed fire at 4:17 a.m.
When crews arrived to the scene, they discovered a shed on fire and learned that the structure was being used as a house.
Two individuals were able to escape, but the infant child did not and died as a result.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
The State Fire Marshall, Great Trail Fire Department, coroner’s office and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.
