A familiar face to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department is stepping into the role of Sheriff two days after the passing of Sheriff Dale Williams.

Calvin Graham, a long-time member of the sheriff’s department, was in attendance at Monday morning’s Carroll County Commissioners meeting and was recommended by the board of commissioners to replace Dale Williams.

Graham has been with the department since 1993. When asked if Sheriff Williams has made it clear to him that he wanted Graham to succeed him, he said yes. He noted that Williams had him at the hospital on Sept. 18 and promoted him to Colonel. He had been in charge of overseeing the department in recent weeks.

The board voted unanimously in favor of Graham to become the new sheriff. Sheriff Graham was then immediately sworn in by Judge Michael Replla.

More information to come later.
