Strasburg boys basketball coach Adam Hall is resigning after eight seasons with the Tigers.

“When I took over this program eight years ago, I never imagined it would become what it has,” Hall stated via a Tuesday press release. “Strasburg is a special place, with special people. Basketball matters here and that is not the case everywhere. I feel honored and blessed to have been able to lead this program [for] the past eight years. Over the past few months, it has become increasingly difficult for me to give this program and the student-athletes that are a part of it the time and attention it deserves.”

Hall took over Strasburg’s boys program in 2014 and quickly turned the team into an Inter-Valley Conference contender. Over eight seasons, Hall compiled a 125-72 record with the Tigers, which included four IVC championships and a pair of East District final appearances (2017, 2019). This past season, the Tigers went 15-9 before losing in the sectional round to IVC North rival Malvern.

Hall currently sits fifth among the all-time wins list in Strasburg boys’ basketball history.

“It has been a great run,” stated Hall. “As a coach, you will never win enough games and you will always lose too many. At the end of the day, for our program, it was never about that. It was about focusing on and dedicating ourselves to the process of getting better each day. That process is what I will miss most about not coaching next year. This program has produced some pretty special moments the past eight years by some extraordinary young men.”

Hall, who in 2017 was named the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association Division IV Coach of the Year, will remain as the superintendent of the Strasburg-Franklin Local School District.

Strasburg athletic director Gary Spinell described Hall as a “great coach and leader of our basketball program. He took over a program eight years ago that needed guidance and a vision and he provided that and still provides the same to our entire district today as Superintendent. Adam’s emphasis on education-based athletics is evident not just with wins on the court but wins off the court as well with our student-athletes. He has and will continue to be a positive presence in the lives of our student-athletes even though he may not be sitting on the bench anymore. Adam makes everyone around him better at whatever they do.”
