HS Basketball Tuesday: Garaway, Hiland, Malvern, Tusky Valley all advance to East District finals

The Garaway Pirates used a late 3rd-quarter scoring stretch to take a double-digit lead and never look back in a 49-35 victory over the Ridgewood Generals in Tuesday night’s Division III East District semifinal at Hiland High School.

Junior Brady Roden led the Bucs in scoring with 14 points, followed by a dozen points apiece by Alex Roden and Logan Yoder.

The Generals were led for most of the contest by Josiah Cahill’s eight points (all in the first half) until Dalton Patterson made a late fourth-quarter run to end the contest with nine points.

The Pirates will move on to play Tusky Valley on Friday, Mar. 4 at 7 p.m. at Claymont High School.

TUSKY VALLEY 76, WEST MUSKINGUM 65 (OT)

Logan Stotzer dropped 31 points on 10-of-26 shooting in Tusky Valley’s overtime victory on Tuesday night over West Muskingum.

The Trojans outscored Muskingum 16-5 in the extra period.

Silas Miller added 16 points for the Trojans, who will play Garaway in Friday’s Division III East District final at Claymont.

HILAND 50, MONROE CENTRAL 46 (OT)

Hiland survived an overtime affair with Monrow Central in the Division IV East District semifinals at Cambridge.

The Hawks will play in the East District final on Friday, Mar. 4 at 7 p.m. at New Philadelphia High School.

MALVERN 61, SHADYSIDE 45

Michael Minor scored 32 points to lead Malvern over the Shadyside Tigers on Tuesday night in Harrison Central.

Noah Ball added 11 points for the Hornets, while Tyler Stotlemyer scored 15 points for Shadyside.

Malvern improves to 21-4 and will play Hiland in Friday’s East District final at New Philadelphia.
