Lady Hornets move to 8-6 with win over Canton Central Catholic

The Malvern Lady Hornets basketball team was victorious over the Canton Central Catholic (CCC) Crusaders Saturday afternoon with a final score of 32-30.

Malvern and CCC battled back and forth in the first quarter, tied at 9-9. The Lady Hornets took advantage in the second quarter, outscoring the Crusaders 9-2 to take an 18-11 advantage into halftime.

Both the third and fourth quarters ended in CCC’s favor, but the second quarter dominance won the game for the Lady Hornets.

Maddie Powers led Malvern with 11 points followed by senior Lanie Bower who finished with nine, going 4-for-6 at the foul line. Emma Debo scored eight points for the winning Lady Hornets.

Debo knocked down two triples. Powers and Bower each made one three-pointer each.

Malvern’s Alyiah Watson pulled down eight of Malvern’s 23 rebounds.

With the win, Malvern improves to 8-6 on the season and 4-2 in the IVC.
