Emergency personnel are on scene of several locations in Stark County due to high waters caused by a fast and heavy downpour of rain Wednesday evening.

The Belden Village Mall area was impacted heavily as parts of the mall lost power and water took over the parking lot, trapping vehicles and shoppers.

“A lot of rain in a short period of time/ The ground and sewer systems quickly became overwhelmed,” said Jackson Twp. Fire Chief Tim Berczik.

High waters took over Whipple Ave near in the North Canton Skate Rink, forcing a fire truck to block the road when a vehicle became submerged.

Chief Tim Berczik hopes as the rain slows up, the flooding goes down.
