Ohio’s vaccine incentive program that was announced last week has been outlined with a minor change.

Originally, Governor DeWine said any Ohioan 18 and up would be automatically be entered into the weekly $1 million drawing but the Ohio Department of Health has changed course. Now, the ODH says everyone who wants to be entered into the drawing must sign up for a chance to win the money.

Over a five-week span, two separate drawings will be held – one for adults and one for children ages 12 to 17.

Starting May 18, Ohioans who want entered into the drawing can register at www.ohiovaxamillion.com or 1-833-4-ASK-ODH.

The opt-in process includes a waiver that will allow your name to be publicly announced – there is no way around keeping your identity anonymous if you win the prize.

Ohioans 18 and older will be eligible to win $1,000,000. Those between 12 to 17 years of age will be eligible to win a four-year scholarship to any State of Ohio university.

This sweepstakes is an attempt to get more Ohio residents vaccinated before the state lifts all public health orders June 2.

The money for the drawing is being pulled from Ohio’s Covid-19 funds.

The first drawing is scheduled for May 24 and will be announced May 26 with the lottery numbers.
