An 85-year-old woman has died from injuries she suffered after the car she was driving collided with a SARTA bus in Canton, police said.
The crash happened around 1:07 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, near Cleveland Avenue NW and 35th Street NW.
According to Canton Police Chief John Gabbard, a SARTA bus was traveling north in the right lane of Cleveland Avenue when a 2007 Toyota Camry traveling west on 35th Street failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the passenger side of the bus.
The driver of the Camry, identified by police as Dina Agelopoulos, 85, was taken to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
The SARTA bus driver was not injured. Several passengers on the bus were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries, police said.
Police said drugs and alcohol are not suspected to have played a role in the crash.
The Canton Metro Crash Team responded to the scene and continues to investigate.
