Ursuline High School has canceled the remainder of its 2025 football season as the program faces turmoil over allegations of sexual assault and hazing, the school announced Thursday.

In a letter to the school community, administrators said the decision came after disciplinary actions against multiple students, the suspension of the head coach and placement of two assistant coaches on administrative leave. Some students left the program or withdrew from the school entirely before discipline could be imposed, officials said.

The move follows two lawsuits alleging sexual assault and hazing within the football program. School leaders said they continue to cooperate with investigations into what they called a “very serious matter.”

The season had already been in jeopardy as roughly half of Ursuline’s scheduled opponents canceled games against the Irish.

“Dozens of student-athletes, band members, cheerleaders, and other students simply wanted to play a sport they love, engage in fulfilling achievements, or support their loved ones,” the school’s leadership team wrote. “It became increasingly clear, however, the season could not continue, and therefore, this difficult decision had to be made.”

The school said it remains committed to supporting students in academics, service and extracurricular activities despite the cancellation.
