A Newcomerstown man was killed early Wednesday in a single-vehicle crash along Interstate 77 in Guernsey County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers with the Cambridge Post responded to the scene near mile marker 56 around 5:57 a.m., where 63-year-old Christopher Morrow was pronounced dead.
Authorities say Morrow was traveling northbound in a 2011 Ford Fusion when the vehicle veered off the left side of the highway, crossed the median, and struck a guardrail in the southbound lanes. Investigators noted that Morrow was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The Liberty Volunteer Fire Department, OhioHealth EMS, Guernsey County Coroner’s Office, Ohio Department of Transportation, and Lloyd’s Towing assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
