A Canton man has died after being struck by a vehicle while walking on the city’s northeast side late last month, according to a Canton police report obtained by Jordan Miller News.
Police said 52-year-old Eugene P. Rogers was hit by a car about 8:53 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, while walking westbound along the north side of 34th Street NE near Harmont Avenue.
Rogers later died on Dec. 8, police said.
The report states Rogers was struck by a gray 2007 Toyota Prius. The driver, a 55-year-old Massillon man, left the scene but has since been identified by authorities.
Police said the driver was not injured.
Officers were dispatched after a caller reported a man lying in the roadway. Responding officers found Rogers on his back and unresponsive, with vehicle debris scattered near the scene.
No charges have been filed. The crash remains under investigation.
