A person was killed Sunday afternoon following an ATV crash in Pike Township, according to the Stark County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched around 3:24 p.m. to the 6100 block of Cleveland Avenue SE for a report of a seriously injured ATV rider.
When deputies arrived, they found the rider on private property. Preliminary findings indicate the individual either fell from the ATV or crashed the vehicle while riding, authorities said.
Emergency medical care was provided at the scene by personnel from the East Sparta Fire Department and Tri-Division EMS. The rider was transported to Mercy Hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
The Stark County Sheriff’s Office said the Canton Metro Crash Team and the Stark County Coroner’s Office also responded to assist with the investigation.
Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased.
The incident remains under investigation by the Stark County Sheriff’s Office and the Canton Metro Crash Team.
