Two men were injured in a shooting Tuesday night in Canton Township, according to a Canton Police Department investigative report.
Officers were dispatched around 9:33 p.m. June 16 to the 1700 block of Sherrick Road SE after receiving reports of a shooting. Dispatchers were advised that two individuals had been shot in the leg and were being transported to Aultman Hospital for treatment.
When officers arrived, they spoke with a witness who said the victims had been standing near a Chevrolet Tahoe along with another individual when a side-by-side utility vehicle arrived. According to the report, an exchange occurred before one of the occupants allegedly fired a shotgun toward the group.
Both victims suffered gunshot wounds to their legs. A third individual then drove them to the hospital for medical treatment.
Police classified the incident as a felonious assault.
No additional information on the victims’ conditions was immediately available.
The shooting remains under investigation.
