The Stark County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died following an ATV crash Sunday afternoon in Pike Township as David Jones, 66, of East Sparta.
According to the Stark County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 3:24 p.m. Sunday to the 6100 block of Cleveland Avenue SE after receiving a report of a seriously injured ATV rider.
When first responders arrived, they found Jones on private property suffering from severe injuries. Investigators said preliminary evidence suggests he either fell from the ATV or was involved in a crash while operating the vehicle.
Personnel from the East Sparta Fire Department and Tri-Division EMS provided emergency medical treatment at the scene before Jones was transported to Mercy Hospital. He was later pronounced dead.
The Canton Metro Crash Team and the Stark County Coroner’s Office responded to assist with the investigation.
Authorities have not released additional information regarding what led to the crash. The incident remains under investigation by the Stark County Sheriff’s Office and the Canton Metro Crash Team.
