Nearly two weeks after a fatal four-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 30 in Stark County, the Stark County Coroner’s Office says it is still working to identify the driver who died in the crash.
A spokesperson for the coroner’s office told Jordan Miller News that efforts to positively identify the victim remain ongoing. No additional details were released, and officials said more information will be provided once identification is complete.
The crash occurred at 4:57 p.m. Dec. 18 near milepost 24 in Osnaburg Township.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet Silverado driven by Emily Foutty, 19, of East Canton, was stopped eastbound on Route 30 waiting to turn left onto Cindell Street SE. A suspected Ford Escort was stopped behind the Silverado when it was struck by a Ford F-150 driven by David Reed Jr., 33, of Minerva.
Troopers said the impact pushed the Escort into the Silverado, causing both the suspected Ford Escort and the Ford F-150 to catch fire.
A Tesla Model Y driven by Nathaniel Koloniar, 50, of Akron, was traveling westbound and was struck by debris from the crash.
Foutty and Reed suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at the scene. Koloniar reported no injuries. The driver of the suspected Ford Escort suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
