A man wanted in connection with a double homicide in West Virginia was arrested Sunday in Canton by members of the U.S. Marshals-led Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, authorities said.

Kevante Jaimere White, 27, was taken into custody without incident at a residence in the 4600 block of Grandview Avenue NW. White is wanted by authorities in Huntington, West Virginia, on two counts of first-degree murder and one count of malicious or unlawful assault with a firearm.

Investigators said the charges stem from a Feb. 20 shooting in the 300 block of 14th Street in Huntington. Police said White was involved in a verbal altercation with a group of men in a parking lot before gunfire erupted. Three people were shot — two died and one survived.

Authorities identified the victims who died as Adrian Phillips, 26, and Derious Johnson, 39.

Officials said White was quickly identified as a suspect and was on supervision with the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for prior convictions of aggravated robbery and felonious assault in Summit County. He had been released from prison in November 2025 after serving a 10-year sentence.

Investigators with the U.S. Marshals Service in West Virginia worked with the Huntington Police Department and the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force after learning White was likely hiding in Ohio. Early Sunday, task force members began searching for him in Akron before their investigation led them to the Canton address, where he was arrested.

White is being held in the Stark County Jail pending extradition to West Virginia.
