A fire early Sunday morning caused a total loss at a commercial building housing two businesses in Jackson Township, according to the Jackson Township Fire Department.

Firefighters were called to the 7800 block of Freedom Avenue around Sunday morning, Jan. 4, where crews found heavy fire conditions and immediately shifted to defensive operations, officials said.

The building at 7855–7857 Freedom Ave. housed two businesses — Off the Grid Motorsports and ProTech — both of which sustained extensive damage. Fire officials said the structure, along with vehicles and equipment inside, is considered a total loss.

No injuries were reported as of Sunday morning. Recycling personnel were also on scene during the response.

Mutual aid was provided by fire departments from Plain Township, Green Township and North Canton. Business owners were present at the scene as crews worked to control the fire.

The cause of the fire and an estimated dollar loss have not yet been determined. The incident remains under investigation.
