The Stark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the deaths of an elderly couple after an 82-year-old woman and her 84-year-old husband were found dead in their Plain Township home Wednesday night in what investigators believe was a murder-suicide.

Deputies were called around 8:45 p.m. to the 2800 block of Sharonwood Avenue NW, where both individuals were found deceased inside the home, according to the sheriff’s office.

Stark County Coroner’s Office investigator Tammy Wilkes confirmed the ages of the victims and said preliminary findings indicate the 84-year-old husband shot his wife before taking his own life. A formal ruling is pending.

The sheriff’s office said the incident is isolated and there is no danger to the community.

The names of the victims have not been released as the investigation continues.
