A Carrollton family lost their home Monday evening after a residential fire off State Route 39 on Arrow Rd SW.

Carrollton Fire Chief Shane Thomas said everyone inside escaped unharmed, but the house was deemed a total loss. Thomas said the fire began when ashes from a wood burner were being taken outside and ignited the front porch before spreading into the home.

Mutual aid was requested from the Dellroy, Great Trail, Mohawk Valley, Sherrodsville and Leesville fire departments.
