The Canton South Board of Education on Tuesday, Jan. 20, approved the hiring of Badre Bardawil as head football coach of the Wildcats during a special meeting.
Bardawil brings 26 years of coaching experience in high school and middle school athletics, including head coaching stints at St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Claymont High School. He has also served as an offensive coordinator at Massillon, McKinley, and most recently Jackson High School.
A graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas, Bardawil earned a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University and is working toward a master’s degree in education at Muskingum University.
“We were fortunate to have a strong pool of candidates, but Coach Bardawil clearly stood out,” Canton Local Schools Superintendent Larry Tausch said in a statement. “His experience, leadership style, and commitment to student-athletes align well with the values of our district and the tradition of Wildcat football.”
Bardawil said he looks forward to leading the program.
“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead the Canton South football program,” Bardawil said. “This is a community that values hard work, relationships, and pride in its schools. I’m excited to get to work with our student-athletes, families, and coaches as we build something special together.”
The board did not immediately release details about Bardawil’s contract or start date.
