The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a four-vehicle fatal crash that occurred Dec. 18 on U.S. Route 30 in Stark County.

Troopers said the crash happened at 4:57 p.m. near milepost 24 in Osnaburg Township.

According to a preliminary investigation, a Chevrolet Silverado driven by Emily Foutty, 19, of East Canton, was stopped eastbound on U.S. Route 30 waiting to turn left onto Cindell Street SE. A suspected Ford Escort was stopped eastbound behind the Silverado.

A Ford F-150 driven by David Reed Jr., 33, of Minerva, was traveling eastbound and struck the suspected Ford Escort. The impact pushed the Escort into the Silverado, causing both the suspected Ford Escort and the Ford F-150 to catch fire, troopers said.

A Tesla Model Y driven by Nathaniel Koloniar, 50, of Akron, was traveling westbound and was struck by debris from the crash.

Foutty and Reed suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at the scene. Koloniar reported no injuries. The driver of the suspected Ford Escort suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity is pending positive identification by the Stark County Coroner’s Office.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Osnaburg Fire Department, Louisville Fire Department, Sandy Creek Fire Department, Quad Ambulance, Rocky’s Towing and the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The crash remains under investigation.
