A fire broke out Tuesday morning, Dec. 16, following an explosion at a well pad on June Road in Malvern, prompting a response from the Great Trail Fire District.
Fire crews were dispatched at about 7 a.m. and arrived to find an active fire on the well pad. Additional resources were requested as crews worked to manage the scene and coordinate information and personnel accountability with EOG Resources Inc.
EOG Resources was actively fracking on the pad at the time of the incident. Company protocols were implemented to shut down equipment following the explosion, officials said.
The fire was allowed to burn down and was contained to a vapor tank. Fire officials reported that the wellheads were not involved and did not sustain damage. Damage to equipment on the well pad was described as minimal.
Fire units remained on scene for approximately one hour before clearing.
No injuries were reported.
