Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was arrested Thursday by federal agents as part of an ongoing investigation into illegal gambling activity, according to multiple reports.

The FBI confirmed that the arrest is connected to a broader probe involving sports figures accused of participating in unauthorized betting operations. Details of the alleged activity have not yet been released publicly.

In a related development, Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier, an Ohio native, was also taken into custody as part of the same investigation. Federal officials have not disclosed whether the two cases are directly linked.

Billups, 48, has served as head coach of the Trail Blazers since 2021 after a lengthy NBA career that included a Finals MVP award with the Detroit Pistons in 2004. Rozier, 30, is in his first season with Miami after being traded from the Charlotte Hornets earlier this year.

Neither the Trail Blazers nor the Miami Heat have issued statements regarding the arrests. The NBA has not commented on whether disciplinary actions will be taken while the investigation continues.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
