A demonstration along Fulton Drive NW took a frightening turn Saturday afternoon when a woman was struck by a white pickup truck during the “No Kings” protest.

The protest, part of a nationwide day of action, drew participants holding signs and flags along the roadside. Witnesses said the driver of a white pickup truck left the road, drove over the curb, and hit a woman standing with the crowd before speeding away.

Another protester who witness the incident, who was standing nearby, said the group had little time to react. “I noticed a white pickup truck start driving over toward the curb, almost hitting a car,” she said. “He drove up the curb trying to scare us, and we all jumped back. Unfortunately, a woman standing close to me was hit.”

She said she ran to the woman’s side as others called for help. “She was alert and oriented but scared and in leg pain,” the witness said. “A woman ran over and said she was a doctor and helped her until police came.”

Jackson Township firefighters and medics responded quickly, providing care to the victim before transporting her from the scene. Her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

According to the Jackson Township Fire Department, the incident remains under investigation by the Jackson Township Police Department.

The “No Kings” rally was one of several held across Stark County — including in Canton, Massillon, and Alliance — as part of a national movement focused on protecting democracy and social programs.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Jackson Township police.
