Four people and a dog escaped safely after a fire tore through the garage of a Jackson Township home early Tuesday morning, according to township fire officials.
Crews were called at about 2:29 a.m. to the 9000 block of Lord’s Lake Circle NW, where they found flames coming from a two-story house with an attached three-car garage. Fire officials said all occupants had evacuated before firefighters arrived, and no injuries were reported.
Working smoke detectors were in the home and operating properly, the Jackson Township Fire Department said.
Mutual aid was provided by the Canal Fulton Fire Department, which sent an engine, and the City of Green Fire Division, which brought a tanker to assist with water supply.
Firefighters contained the blaze to the garage, preventing it from spreading into the rest of the residence. The fire was declared under control at 3:21 a.m.
The nonprofit Jackson Bear Hugs responded to assist the family with immediate support. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
