A 32-year-old woman was shot during a road rage incident in Akron on Saturday afternoon, police said.

Officers responded around 3:59 p.m. to the 600 block of Moreley Avenue after receiving calls about a shooting. They found the victim with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. She was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the woman and her husband were driving separate vehicles southbound on South Hawkins Avenue when they encountered a woman in a gray Mercedes-Benz who was reportedly driving recklessly. According to the husband, the suspect honked her horn before he got out of his vehicle to confront her. The suspect pulled out a firearm and pointed it at him, causing him to retreat into his vehicle.

As he attempted to drive away, police said, the suspect fired a shot that shattered his rear window. She then fired another shot through the passenger-side window of the wife’s car, striking her once in the shoulder.

The couple drove home to Moreley Avenue, where they called police. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit interviewed witnesses and collected evidence.

Investigators later identified and located the suspect and her vehicle. The case remains under active investigation, and no charges had been filed as of Monday.
