Authorities have released the identity of the driver killed in a three-vehicle crash Thursday on Interstate 77 in Tuscarawas County.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said 18-year-old Ava Stamets died at the scene of the Aug. 21 crash, which happened around 2:18 p.m. near milepost 63 in Oxford Township.

Investigators said Stamets was driving a silver 2010 Honda CR-V northbound when it crossed the median into the southbound lanes. Her vehicle collided with a white Ford F-150 driven by 50-year-old Donald Kalman, which then went off the left side of the road and overturned.

The CR-V then spun into the right lane, striking a blue 2022 Ram 1500 driven by 38-year-old Samuel Hartman. Both the CR-V and Ram left the right side of the road and hit a guardrail.

Kalman, Hartman, and four passengers in the Ram were taken to Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge with minor injuries, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation. Troopers said drugs and alcohol are believed to be factors.
