The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that left multiple people injured and a horse dead after an Amish buggy was rear-ended by a car Wednesday night in Stark County.

The crash occurred around 9:13 p.m. on U.S. Route 250 near milepost 3 in Sugarcreek Township, according to the Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said 29-year-old Dylan Tucker, of Mansfield, was driving a blue 2013 Ford Fusion westbound on U.S. 250 when he struck the back of a westbound horse-drawn buggy operated by Daniel Miller. Miller’s wife and two children were passengers in the buggy.

All four occupants of the buggy were injured in the crash. They were initially taken to Mercy Hospital by Brewster EMS, and the two children were later flown to Akron Children’s Hospital with serious injuries. The horse pulling the buggy died at the scene.

Tucker was transported to Aultman Hospital with possible injuries. No signs of alcohol or drug impairment were observed, officials said.

Brewster Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
