An 11-year-old boy was critically injured Wednesday afternoon after his electric dirt bike collided with a work truck in Stark County.
The Stark County Sheriff’s Office said it received a 911 call at 4:17 p.m. reporting a crash in the 2700 block of Heritage Avenue NW in Plain Township involving a GMC Sierra HD work truck and a child on an electric dirt bike.
Deputies and emergency medical personnel arrived on scene and found the child with life-threatening injuries. He was initially transported to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital before being airlifted to Akron Children’s Hospital for further treatment.
The driver of the GMC truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Canton Metro Crash Team is assisting with the ongoing investigation. The Plain Township Fire Department also responded to the scene.
