Shane Bieber’s time with the Cleveland Guardians has come to an end.
The team has reportedly traded the 2020 Cy Young Award winner to the Toronto Blue Jays, ending his season-long rehab stint from Tommy John surgery before he could make a return to the mound.
Bieber, who signed a $10 million contract with Cleveland for the 2025 season during the offseason, also held a player option for 2026 with a $4 million buyout.
In exchange, the Guardians are receiving right-handed pitcher Khal Stephen and a 2024 second-round draft pick.
Bieber has made just two major-league starts since the conclusion of the 2023 season.
