A North Canton man was killed Saturday afternoon in a motorcycle crash in Stark County, according to the Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened around 1:20 p.m. on Frank Avenue near Mega Street in Jackson Township.

Larry A. Jeffries Jr., 58, of North Canton, was operating a 2000 Indian Chief motorcycle southbound in the center lane of Frank Avenue when he struck the driver’s side of a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado attempting an improper turn.

According to investigators, the Silverado—driven by 24-year-old Luca Stambaugh, also of North Canton—was traveling in the far-right lane and tried to make a left turn onto Mega Street, crossing into Jeffries’ path.

Jeffries was taken to Mercy Hospital in Canton, where he was pronounced dead from internal injuries sustained in the crash. Troopers said he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The Jackson Township Fire Department, Reed’s Towing, and Belden Village Towing assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
