Authorities have released the identities of two women who died after being pinned between two pickup trucks in Tuscarawas County over the weekend.
The Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office identified the women as Dawn D. Martin, 58, and Latasha Martin, 34, both of Uhrichsville.
The women were fatally injured in the parking lot of the Atwood Dairy Bar along state Route 212 NE near Mineral City after leaving the Atwood Area Fall Festival, where they had been vendors.
Tuscarawas County Sheriff Orvis Campbell previously said one of the vehicles had pulled into the parking lot after experiencing an issue. A second truck, driven by a family member, pulled in behind and off to the side.
According to Campbell, the second truck was not placed in park and began to idle forward, eventually pressing against the first truck and pinning the two women between the vehicles.
Investigators believe the women had been pinned between the trucks for approximately two hours before they were discovered. Both trucks were still running when deputies arrived.
Deputies began lifesaving measures, and both women were transported to Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital. The coroner’s office said it was notified around 10:54 p.m. that both women had died from injuries sustained in the accident.
The coroner’s office said both women were taken to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies. Their causes and manners of death remain pending.
