A former Green Middle School teacher has been arrested after a Summit County grand jury indicted him on multiple rape and sexual battery charges stemming from allegations involving former female students.
Gary D. Huff, 64, of North Canton, was arrested Sept. 30 by the U.S. Marshals Service’s Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force and the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, according to Sheriff Kandy Fatheree. He was booked into the Summit County Jail.
The investigation began in October 2025 when a 42-year-old woman contacted the sheriff’s office and reported she had been sexually assaulted by Huff while she was a student at Green Middle School.
The woman told investigators the sexual activity began when she was 13 and that she had numerous sexual encounters with Huff between 1997 and 1999, both on and off school property.
Detectives with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office investigated the allegations and identified additional former female students who authorities say also had sexual contact with Huff while he was employed by Green schools.
The Summit County Prosecutor’s Office presented the case to a grand jury Sept. 29. Huff was indicted on three counts of rape, all first-degree felonies, and six counts of sexual battery, all third-degree felonies.
The charges are allegations, and Huff is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to determine whether there are additional victims. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
